On Saturday, June 6, women’s education takes center stage as the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Pageant will hold its second “Crown Chasers 5K” at Lake Benson in Garner, NC.
North Carolinians from all around the state will converge in Garner to run for the cause, and many plan to make powerful fashion statements with their “running attire.” Additionally, a special round of racers will sport their finest tutus and tiaras. A glitter glistening will take place to help race participants achieve a glistening affect, sans sweat.
Check-in for the race will begin at 9 a.m., and Miss North Carolina 2014, Beth Stovall, will formally launch the race with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The event will include a timed and untimed 5K run. The highlight of the event will be the 1-mile “Tutu Trot”, as participants are encouraged to wear their best “princess attire,” including tiaras and tutus.
“We are thrilled to once again bring back this exciting event to Garner and promote our amazing mission,” said Jacob Godwin, race organizer. “The Miss NC Pageant is rooted in the mission of promoting women’s education. Many people don’t realize the amount of scholarships given to these young women each year – scholarships that have literally been life changing for countless Miss NC contestants, not just the pageant winner.”
Registration fees for the event will be $20 for untimed runners and $25 for timed if registered before May 3rd. On May 4th, registration fees increase by $5. Race day registration fees will be $30 for untimed and $35 for timed. Precision Race from Raleigh, NC will be the official timing company for the event.
